Extracting and sending data
For Wruum, helping you obtain and analyze the data you need to reap the true benefits of being a motorist is very important to us, and we would like to explain a bit about how Wruum works.
Wruum taps into your car in a gentle and unobtrusive way, and it helps data flow from your car’s on-board computer systems and to Wruum’s data collection and analysis systems, which are collectively called the “Wruum Cloud”.
In more technical terms, Wruum plugs into your car’s so-called “CAN-bus”, “OBD-port” or next generation electric vehicle bus system and regularly interacts with the on-board computer systems and extracts data relevant to you and your stakeholders.
Wruum does so in a variety of ways using custom developed hardware as well as OEM OBD-to-Bluetooth and OBD-to-WiFi devices, thus enabling as many hardware vendors as possible to utilize Wruum for the benefit of the motorists and themselves.
Number crunching in the Wruum Cloud
The Wruum Cloud receives huge amounts of driving data from motorists who’ve signed up for Wruum and it eagerly crunches and analyzes its way through that data in order to bring out details and trends for you to enjoy.
In more technical terms, data often appears in the form of time series (that is, made up of timestamps combined with various information from your car’s on-board computers, e.g. throttle position and combustion details) combined with location data which allows Wruum to help you realize when and where you drove like this and that.
Some say that the devil is in the detail, and at Wruum that’s our belief.
The number crunching performed by Wruum puts detailed and yet easy-to-grasp information in the hands of motorists, and Wruum is a game-changer for both motorists and the industry as a whole.
Giving you the benefit of your data
Getting access to your car’s driving data reveals a whole lot of information which enables you to unlock a whole world of possibilities and become a better driver.
Suddenly your detailed driving data, which has hitherto just been hidden in your car’s computer systems, becomes a commodity which you can choose to swap for e.g. lower insurance premiums, lower emission taxes, extended service on your car and much else – all depending on how you drive your car and what you would like to do with your data.
Also, Wruum provides you with detailed diagnostic information on the current and historic health of your car which enables you to understand to a much better degree what may be wrong with your car, and how it came to be so.
This will help you compare your car’s performance with the performance of other cars, e.g. of the same or other brands, and it will help you to be able to negotiate much better deals with your mechanic.
